Microsoft’s Game Pass has done a fantastic job of encouraging players to broaden their gaming experiences. Subscribers can now access a huge library of games which they may never have played otherwise, allowing them to experience tons of new genres for a fraction of the individual cost. But did you know that there are some Game Pass exclusives?
While the Game Pass library is largely filled with a broad selection of triple A games, indie classics and other Microsoft-owned properties which span every genre, there are some games that are only accessible on Xbox via Game Pass, and some games that can only be obtained digitally through the services. There aren’t currently any games that can only be accessed through Game Pass alone, but these are as good as exclusive for those who only own an Xbox.
So if you’re an Xbox Game Pass subscriber who wants to make sure that they don’t miss out on some of the games that are exclusive to the service, or a prospective subscriber who wants to find out what they could get out of it, you’ve come to the right place.
Here’s a list of all the Game Pass exclusives:
Xbox games only accessible with Game Pass
These games aren’t strictly exclusive to Game Pass, because you can get them on other platforms, but if you want to play them on Xbox, this is going to be your only way of doing so. At this point in time, there’s only one game that fits this description, but there have previously been others and we’ll keep this list up to date to reflect any new additions:
- Super Lucky’s Tale: this seems to have been replaced by its follow up, New Super Lucky’s Tale, a game which has changes to gameplay and completely redesigned levels. Game Pass is now the only way to experience this title on Xbox, though the game is also on Steam (albeit, only as part of a bundle).
Exclusive digital versions of games
If you can’t track down a physical copy, or just don’t like using discs, these games cannot be bought digitally through the Xbox store and can only be accessed through Game Pass.
- EA Sports FIFA 20 (Game Pass Ultimate)
- NHL 20 (Game Pass Ultimate)
- EA Sports Rory McIlroy PGA Tour (Game Pass Ultimate)
- Titanfall (Game Pass Ultimate)
- UFC 3 (Game Pass Ultimate)
Exclusive editions of games
Some of these versions of popular games are available on disc, but the only way to digitally access them is with a Game Pass subscription:
- ARK: Survival Evolved Explorer’s Edition: this version of ARK: Survival Evolved includes three of the game’s main expansions. It has been superseded by ARK: Ultimate Survivor Edition. Though the Explorer’s Edition is available on disc, it is not easy to find anymore.
- Dragon Age Inquisition: if you want to try the base game alone (or not in a bundle), without any of the DLC, you can only get it via Game Pass. Also available on disc.
- Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas – Definitive Edition: If the only part of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – Definitive Edition that you want is San Andreas, this is the only way to get it solo.
- Halo Wars 2: if you want to try the base game alone, without any of the add-ons, you can only get it via Game Pass. Also available on disc.
- Madden NFL 20: if you want to try the base game alone, without any of the add-ons, you can only get it via Game Pass. Also available on disc.
- Mass Effect Andromeda: if you want to try the base game alone, without any of the DLC, you can only get it via Game Pass. This can help to make the game more challenging by removing the additional Turian Soldier characters. Also available on disc.
