NEPHI, Jaub County — A woman attempted to escape from police by driving on the wrong side of Interstate 15 in a stolen car Sunday afternoon.

According to the Juab County Sheriff’s Office, the Utah Highway Patrol identified a stolen vehicle in Nephi at approximately 5:52 p.m. The suspect was seen driving northbound on I-15 near mile maker 224.

When police attempted to stop her, she fled in the stolen car and a pursuit started.

“At one point, the suspect turned around on the freeway shoulder and began driving the wrong way on the freeway to avoid being stopped,” stated the sheriff’s office press release.

After driving for about three miles, the suspect exited the freeway and moved on a mountain road east of Mona, Utah.

“The chase finally came to an end when the driver ran off the road and crashed into a ravine,” according to the press release.

Police said the suspect was taken to the hospital to be medically cleared before being booked into the Juab County Jail.
