While her acting mettle has been proved fair and square with her wise choice of scripts over the years, one needs to veer their attention to her fashion evolution on the silver screen too. Kareena who started a fashion evolution with her iconic character Poo in Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham has since then served many a style statement that has left a lasting impression with her consequent roles. Be it her glamorous looks in Heroine or the traditional and vibrant outfits in Jab We Met as the bubbly Geet to the quite recently her OTT debut movie Jaane Jaan where her barefaced avatar coupled with casual attires like chequered shirts and classic black dresses has caught the attention of fashion enthusiasts - it is true what they say, ain’t no one like Bebo!
On her birthday, here’s a look at her style evolution on the silver screen that struck a chord with us:
Poo in Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001)
Aeons later, girls still want to create some of her best looks from Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham where she played the sassy and gorgeous Poo a.k.a. Pooja. Sequin crop tops, mini skirts, that eye-catching red leather jacket, tube tops, halter-neck silhouettes, and even ethnic ensembles like pastel lehengas and solid-coloured salwar suits - Kareena indeed made true-blue Bollywood glam take centre stage while she aced every fashion trend at that time.

Geet in Jab We Met (2007)
Kareena Kapoor Khan made the corset look cool at a time when fashion lovers were yet to realise that it has indeed made a much-needed comeback. Her lovely white billowing top layered with a black corset on top and a red skirt is one of the top looks from the film that is still recreated today. Kareena was now seen like a true-blue Punjabi kudi on the big screen as she sported heavily embroidered patiala suits in bold colours. Lots of kurtis, stoles, tees and denim - Geet’s wardrobe was as relatable as it gets for every small-town girl.
Pooja in Tashan (2008)
A drastic change in the look and vibe of the film, Kareena Kapoor Khan was suddenly seen in chic denim and casual looks. A series of knotted tops and a lot of accessories from jazzy sunglasses to big belts were sported by her. This was also the diva's style zero era and her song Chhaliya had made quite the splash where trends like cutout silhouettes, tank tops, mini denim skirts, sequin bodysuits and hot pants were all the rage. Kareena got the temperature soaring in her bold and beautiful avatar in the film and got the crowd taking notes.

Mahi in Heroine (2012)
Kareena pretty much played what she is in real life for the big screen - a glamorous star! She probably has never looked any more beautiful than she did in this film. She sported a range of colourful sarees in the song Halkat Jawaani in the film from neon to tangy orange to classic black. She aced a glamorous gown as effortlessly as she did a tank top and harem pants look. Her red bodycon number became every girl’s guide to how to rock solid colours with statement pieces. Heroine is what they say is a peek into Bollywood fashion and Kareena’s onscreen persona was a befitting one.
Kia in Ki and Ka (2016)
The office wear lookbook served by Kareena Kapoor Khan in Ki and Ka was a much-needed recommendation on how to make corporate attires stand out. Muted tones for midi dresses with a minimal belt, solid coloured tops with trousers, a lot of printed formal shirts, coats, and blazers at the same time were some off-duty looks where she looked stunning in sweater tees and comfy pants. It was the era of less is more and Kareena’s character Ki got the memo all right!

Kalindi in Veere Di Wedding (2018)
By 2018 Kareena’s style saw a very stylish revamp on the big screen. Her makeup choice had mellowed down to mostly muted looks. As for her outfits, it was all about elegant choices. Be it her wedding look in the film where the yellow and white lehenga was much-talked about or the boho chic lehenga she sported in Pappi Le Loon in a blue crop top with batwing sleeves and a vividly embroidered skirt to go with it. In Tareefan she channelled her Poo era once again in sequin dresses, leather skirts and spaghetti tops. Needless to say, she balances out her ethnic and Western ensembles with equal panache.
Maya in Jaane Jaan (2023)
Not only has Kareena matured as an actress but also in how she is represented befittingly on the big screen through the language of costumes. Her OTT debut is as thrilling as it gets and in perfect tandem with her mysterious character. She is mostly seen wearing a lot of dark colours. A lot of formats fit in deep blacks and greens. There’s one chequered shirt in particular that has been noticed. Even though simple, Kareena with her effortless beauty makes everyday wear ensembles look stunning as always. Even when she paired up an all-black top and denim look with nothing but a pair of big hoops. That’s Kareena for you!
